In this recipe, we combine fresh apples, warm spices, and a crumbly oat topping to create a mouthwatering dessert in a cocotte. The apples provide essential nutrients and dietary fiber, while the oats offer sustained energy and support digestive health. Natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup add a touch of sweetness, and the inclusion of almond flour and sunflower oil provides healthy fats.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla flavor

  • 1/4 cup rolled oats

  • 1 tablespoon wheat flour

  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil

  • 1 tablespoon chopped pecan nuts

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together the diced apple, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla flavor, and lemon juice
  • In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, almond flour, sunflower oil, chopped nuts (if using), a pinch of salt, and the beaten egg. Mix well until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  • Take a small cocotte or oven-safe ramekin and spoon the apple mixture into it, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the crumbly mixture over the top of the apples, covering them completely.
  • Place the cocotte in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the apple filling is tender and the topping turns golden brown.
  • Once done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
